Ok, Maybe I'm living in the past BUT here goes......
The
year..1983 (Disco was in, and it was hard to fit in those "Angel
Flight" pants after a pumpin' quad workout).
The
place..A gutted out warehouse-style gym (complete with a roll-up
back door and pictures of Draper, Zane and Arnold hanging on the
unfinished drywall).
My training partner..A high school buddy who was so dedicated he
would take his baggie of chichen out on his surfboard so his timing
wouldn't be off on his eating.
The
training..Legs (squats/leg curls,extensions, donkey calve raises..)
Wrapping and un-wrapping your legs between sets.
The atmosphere..Clankin' of rusty iron weights, the owner sitting
at the front desk eating while yelling at you if the weights weren't
racked or your form was off, and complaining that he had to add
a women's locker room.
The
mental attitude..Growth, not worrying about a mortgage,career, or
much of anything else.
The
diet..Steak/Eggs/Milk...then more Steak/Eggs/Milk.
As
with everything, nothing lasts forever. At the time I probably didn't
look at it as the best workouts, but now I look back and can see
those were some memorable times......
